Forests in Winter
Monica Geber and Jesse Bellemare

While we think of forests as lying dormant in winter, there is still a lot that we can learn about them when trees have dropped their leaves. In this Explorations Program students will venture into, and hike around a nearby forest for 2-3 hours. Students will learn how to identify trees from their bark and buds. We will also interpret the history of the forests through the sizes of trees and the topography of the landscape.

We will venture into and hike around in a nearby forest for 2-3 hours. We will leave from the east side of the Entomology building at 1 pm. Be absolutely sure to wear warm clothing and boots, bring hats and gloves. We will provide warm drinks.
