I have done research on avian orientation behavior, particularly the ability of homing pigeons to orient and home in darkness ("fly-by-night research").
I enjoy reading and have an intense interest in classical music. I also like to fish, watch birds, play tennis (very badly), view classic films, and root for the Washington Redskins.
I grew up in Washington D.C. and attended Johns Hopkins University for two years before transferring to the University of Wisconsin. I am married and have one son who is a junior at Beloit College.
