The Why, What, When, and How Much We Eat
Brian Wansink and Collin Payne
The Cornell University Food and Brand Lab invites you to tour our lab and our mission. Twenty years of my research into eating behavior can be summarized in saying “People’s tastes are not formed by accident.” Most of us don’t overeat because we’re hungry. We overeat because of family and friends, packages and plates, names and numbers, labels and lights, colors and candles, shapes and smells, distractions and distances, cupboards and containers. Demonstrations will show how these environmental factors can lead people to overeat. Students will be expected to participate in discussions pertaining to how we can make our environment work for us rather than against us so that we can use food to “be who we want to be”….this could be healthier, thinner, or happier.
